The ‘prep’ started on the Thursday night while I tried to service the 4×4 in the dark and without a oil filter remover. A little innovation was required to remove oil filters. Eventually I managed to replace the engine oil and two filters. The transfer and diffs needed oil changes as well but I decided that it can wait till the return. My girlfriend watched me as I worked on the car with a look of amusement on her face (especially during the filter removal process). I ended up with oil everywhere!

The drive started on the Friday of the Queens Birthday weekend with my house mates helping me roll start the Patrol down the street. A good start to a true road trip.
