If someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. – 1 Peter 3:15

I remember the first time that someone asked me about my faith and I freaked out. I wasn’t sure what to say or how to explain it. As a new Christian all I had was ‘I just believe’. A powerful statement of my faith in the hope that Jesus offered but without explainable foundation.

If you’ve committed to living life under Christ, the most powerful explanation that you have is in your story. In fancy words, it’s your testimony. I’ve often asked people about their story and they’ll start with “Well, it’s not that interesting…”. Here’s the thing, in Christ, your story is powerful. Every decision you make and every challenge you overcome is testament to your life in the Father.

Each step in your journey with Christ has eternal significance. You can’t say that’s not interesting.

Sharing our hope as Christians isn’t about attacking others for the things that they’re doing wrong, it’s about understanding the shortcomings that we’ve overcome in our own lives though Christ. It’s about sharing how the love and grace of Jesus in our past experiences has redefined our eternal future.

Consider your story, how can you better share it to emphasise the impact Jesus has had in your life.
