I’m a doing type of person. I see something that needs to be done and start working on it. I’m focused on Action and I’ve often said that prayer without action will never change the world. I still believe in that statement but over the last few weeks, I’ve started to realise that I’ve missed a big part of what we’re called to incorporate between prayer and action. Faith. As Christians, we’re called to commit in faith before we act.

Though I don’t believe that I lack faith, neglecting the faith element between prayer and action has had a huge impact on the way I respond in my life. I started beginning to undermine my abilities, my strength and my commitment. My perception was that I wasn’t able to achieve the plans that the father had put on my heart.

There was a distinct pattern in where I was going wrong. You might have already picked it up. I was focusing on ME. It was all about my abilities, my strength and my commitment. Jumping straight from prayer to action just highlighted my weaknesses. Weaknesses that are overcome with faith in the grace and strength of the father.

At church, I’ve had some really encouraging input from people that I’ve been so blessed to do life with. Deb shared about the Grace of God. Jordan shared about her faith journey as she travelled though Europe and when we sang oceans, it almost brought me to tears.

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Society teaches us that being un-prepared for life is irresponsible, that you’re unorganised if you don’t have a plan and that you’re mad if you believe in a God to provide in your weakness. 

Paul, one of the greatest disciples in history acknowledges that it was the fathers grace alone that enabled him to achieve those great things that history has written about.

“But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favour on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace” -1 Corinthians 15:10

Each one of us is gifted and in his strength, we can achieve great things. Great things that we never thought were possible things that you and I could never achieve on our own.

“God has given each of you a gift. … Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ” – 1Peter 4:10-11

I have started on a journey to re-commit in my belief that all things really are possible though Christ. As I travel to Perth, my goal is to trust that though the father, I can be confident in stepping up to challenges that previously stopped me in my tracks.

It’s been one week and I’ve been blessed in so many ways as I’ve trusted in oddities and committed to opportunities that have randomly presented themselves with faith.

It’s never irresponsible to trust in God. Even Against the odds. Will you join me in trusting with faith that we can achieve anything though Christ? I would love to walk this journey with you!
