With fire season coming up, we’ve seen a lot of fuel reduction burning (back burnning) happening around the place. These photographs were taken in one of Victoria’s state forests.
Though I understand that back burning reduces the possibility of fires starting ans spreading, I’m yet to be convinced that it’s actually good for the environment.I wonder if there are any other fire prevention measures that can be used to control large areas like forests.
Though I haven’t done much research, I’m sure that back burning would affect the ecology of the area burned off. Walking though this part of forest there was no signs of animal life anywhere and greenery was scarce.
Now, after I almost lost my tripod in George Town, TAS, My mate Richard managed to leave his tripod behind in this forest. We realised this after we arrived home. Bugger!
